Church History

The Congregational and URC history in our area goes back to the first years of the  19th century!  We have two historical documents which you may find very interesting!

200 Years of Church Life in Congregational and United Reformed Churches in Churchtown, Southport and Birkdale by Audrey Munnerly.  

Audrey compiled her book from records in Southport reference Library after consulting with Rev Walter Lazenby.

Birkdale Congregational Church Jubilee Souvenir

Birkdale Congregational Church (now Birkdale URC) opened in 1878 and in 1928 they published a Jubilee Book to commemorate fifty years of church life.
